A yearlong investigation into the events of a 24-hour period during which I was dumped, had an uncanny experience involving a raccoon t-shirt, saw a large wildfire, and witnessed a fleeing parolee who had been shot in the face by undercover police officers. The picture at left shows me at 10 years old. I mentioned this photograph to her the night we broke up. The picture at right shows the man I saw the following morning, as I went surfing for the first time.
